Obituary

Gene Joseph Rym, age 62, of Rochester, died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Allen Medical Center in Oberlin. Born in Oberlin on March 6, 1946, Gene lived in Camden Twp. until 1973 when he moved to Rochester. Gene was a 1965 graduate of Firelands High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Gene worked at Thew Shovel in Lorain, Cleveland City Forge and at Loveman Steel in Bedford Heights. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and wine making. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Cheryl; three children, Brian (Aubrey) Rym of New London, Rebecca and Jennifer Rym, both of Rochester; and two grandchildren, Sirena and Orrin. Gene is also survived by his mother, Myrtle Gott of Wellington and two sisters, Esther (Darius) Miller of Ashland and Muffy (Roger) Behrant of Brunswick. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Rym and his grandparents. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3rd at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Christine Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to the Rochester Volunteer Fire Dept., 200 Eagle St., Rochester, OH 44090. Wellington.
