Obituary

Josephine Alice Johnson, 93, formerly of Wellington, died on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 27, 1923 in Akron to the late Paul and Pearl (nee Samson) Witherow and was a graduate of Coventry High School. Josephine was active in her community; she a member of the Wellington First United Methodist Church and would help with meals in the kitchen. A talented seamstress, she was a member of the needle point guild for over 50 years. Jo enjoyed golfing, walking, and bike riding. She had the opportunity to travel with her husband and was blessed to see much of the world. Josephine is survived by her grandchildren Brian (Mary) Johnson and Angela (Keith) Dotson both of Elyria; daughter-in-law Elayne M. Johnson and son-in-law Jamie Butcher; 6 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Helen (Russell) Trommer of TX. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Herbert Johnson, daughter Beth Butcher and son Clark H. Johnson, and a brother Charles Witherow. Friends and family will be received on Friday, June 3, from 2 to 4 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington.
