Josephine Opel, age 83, of Wellington died Friday, June 6, 2008 at Allen Medical Center in Oberlin. Born December 26, 1924 in LaGrange to the late Ralph and Lillian (Rising) Flood, Josephine lived in Elyria for several years and was a 1942 graduate of Elyria High School. She moved to Wellington in 1977.
Josephine worked at Bendix right after high school, at the former Colson Corp. in Elyria, and at Ridge Tool. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellington. Josephine found great enjoyment in gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Clark; her three children, Thomas Dale Opel of Wellington, Karen Louise Magney of Lutz, FL and Ellyn Marie Malham of Spring Hill, FL; 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Josephine is also survived by a brother, Don Flood of Grafton and a sister, Judi Shaw of Sullivan.
A private burial will take place at the Rochester Twp. Cemetery. A memorial service for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, June 10 at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church of Wellington, 125 Grand Ave., Wellington, OH 44090 with Rev. Thomas Alexander officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Josephine can be made to the First Baptist Church of Wellington or to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106.
