Joy Devereaux, 80, of Wellington, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2011 surrounded
by her loving family at EMH. Joy was born in Kentucky on August 2, 1931 to the late
Mitchell and Mellie (nee Parker) Wall. She spent most of her childhood in the Akron area
and moved to Penfield in late high school and graduated from Penfield High School in 1950.
Joy was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family always came first and they
have been left with nothing but many loving memories to cherish; some of which are many
items she knitted or crocheted for family and friends.
Joy is survived by her husband John Devereaux, to which she was married for 60 years;
children, Gail (Michael) Smith of Wellington, Lynn Ferren of Lagrange, John (Sherry)
Devereaux II of Wellington, and Jimmie (Sanford Smith) Devereaux of Florida; 9
grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Fay Turner of
Florida. Joy was preceded in death by a sister Bobbie W. Evans.
A private family service will be held.
