Norwalk, Ohio - Joyce Leone Mockler, 89, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, in Gaymont Nursing Center, Norwalk, Ohio. She was born to the late Thoms J. and Ruth (Krause) Mockler on June 6, 1929, in Wakeman, Ohio. Joyce graduated from Providence School of Nursing, in 1953, and received a BS in Nursing from Western Reserve Unversity in 1964. She worked as a 2nd shift charge nurse in Oberlin Hospital for the majority of her career. She was respected by both the nurses and doctors at the hospital. Joyce was also musically talented, and was an organist at St. Mary's Church in Wakeman, Ohio. She also sang at many of the church services. At home, Joyce played the piano and sang for her nieces and nephews. She is surviced by 18 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, by her brother, Thomas (Mary) Mockler, and sisters, Elaine (Thomas) Conry, Jean (Martin) Myers, Lois (Thomas) Fay, and her niece Kathy (Dennis) Laffay, and her nephew, Michael Mockler, in infancy. Friends may call on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 46 E. Main Street, Wakeman, Ohio 44889. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Fr. Kishore Kottanna will officiate.
