Joyce E. Sparks, age 82, of Plymouth, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at her daughters home after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
She was born August 3, 1929 in North Fairfield, daughter of the late Dalton and Bertha (Newman) Rang. Joyce had lived in Delphi all of her life. She was valedictorian for her North Fairfield High School graduating
class. She owned and operated Joyce's Beauty Shop in Delphi for many years. She and her husband farmed and raised and showed Registered Columbia sheep. They also owned and operated Modelog Homes.
Joyce was a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed dancing.
She is survived by her children, Don (Lori) Sparks of Plymouth, Bonnie (Gary) Albright of Delphi, Jan (Rich) Ryerson of Plymouth, Karen Dickinson of Norwalk; 13 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren;
brothers in law, Keith (Gert) Sparks of Ashland, Sam Predieri of Delphi; sisters in law, Frances Chenowith of Mesa, Arizona, Norma Rang of
Norwalk; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gene Sparks, her brothers, Carl and Roger Rang, her infant brother, stepfather, Kenneth Knott, her son in law, Harold J.
Dickinson.
Friends may call from 5 ' 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Delphi United Methodist Church, 628 US Rte. 224, Willard with Pastor Jim Westermann officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. A luncheon will be held at the church after the cemetery committal. Memorials if desired may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or to the Delphi United Methodist Church.
