Judith E. Runkle, age 70 of Greenwich, died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at her home. She was born September 1, 1943, in North Fairfield, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Esther (Henry) Lowery. She was a lifelong Greenwich area resident. Judi was in the first graduating class of South Central High School in 1961. She married Richard Runkle on August 4, 1962. Judi was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. She loved her grandchildren and caring for them she also enjoyed sending cards and letters. She was an active member of the Ripley Church until she was unable to attend due to illness. Judi is survived by her daughter, Jen Runkle-Hignett of Greenwich; grandchildren, Seth Richard Runkle, Allison Grace Hignett and Katelyn Marie Hignett all of Greenwich; siblings, Kathy (Gene) Hamlin of Norwalk, Jerry (Bonnie) Lowery of Shiloh and James Lowery of Greenwich; sister-in-law, Marcy Lowery of Greenwich; brother-in-law, Dick Persky of Greenwich and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Runkle in 1998, siblings, Marjorie Persky and Jack Lowery and sister-in-law, Diane Lowery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 and from 10 a.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. service at Ripley Church, 4130 South Edwards Road, Greenwich with Pastor Eric Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Edwards Grove Cemetery, Greenwich. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Ripley Church.
