Obituary

Judith Ann Sako, 81, died Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at her Wellington home surrounded by her family.   She was born July 31, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents John and Josephine (Nee Peters) Zima.  Judith grew up in Parma and graduated from Parma High School. Judy later moved to Wellington in 1977.

Judy was a crafter by nature and it was those skills that led to her becoming the activities director at The Elms Retirement Village in Wellington for 18 years.  She was a passionate supporter of the Metro Parks in both Lorain and Cuyahoga Counties, and volunteered with the Cleveland Zoo. Judy championed the Lorain County Metro Parks and in 2007 started volunteering at the Wellington Reservation Metro Park and she built the Serpent at the Carlisle Reservation. She liked going fishing and baking. Judy was passionate about her kids and grandkids and treasured her time with family.

She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Charles Sako; children, Stasia (Ken) Goetz, Alyssa (Austin) Cooper, Guy Charles (Ashley) Sako, Jessica Barker and;  9 grandchildren, Cacy, Jodi, Jason, Katey, David, Gus, Elise, Max, and Emma; 4 great grandchildren, Charlie, Thomas, Iris, and Isaac; and brother, John David Zima. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Josephine Zima, sister, Barbara Shott.
