Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Judy Ann Copsey of Norwalk, Ohio at the age of 83 years.

She will be lovingly and fondly remembered by her husband of almost 60 years, John M. Copsey Sr. John and Judy met while both working at Norwalk Furniture. They were married on June 20, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Milan, Ohio and together they share 6 children, 2 grandsons, and a great granddaughter, all who will miss their mother and grandmother dearly.

Left to cherish her memory are her children John Jr., Jennifer (Frank Keller), Julie (Don Knox), Jeff (Kristie Scott), and Jodie; grandchildren, Andrew Keller (Emily), and Kyle Keller; and great granddaughter Kollyns Keller. Judy also leaves behind a sister-in-law Marjorie Mansfield, several nieces and nephews, and a very dear high school friend, Sally Sleek who graduated with Judy from Milan High School in 1959.

Judy's greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and her brand new great granddaughter, Kollyns. Judy was very involved and was a long time member of the Moose Lodge where she served as an officer for several years. She also enjoyed spending weekends at Amish country and going for long walks and car rides when her health allowed. Other things she found joy in were Girls Night Out, which raised awareness and money for breast cancer research, visiting the Milan Melon Festival every year, reading on her deck enjoying warm weather and sunshine, and having fun and animated conversations with her grandsons. Besides raising a large family, Judy was also employed by KMart for 25 years, from 1981 to her retirement in 2006.

Judy was predeceased by her parents Robert Sr. and Marjorie Mansfield; sisters, Susan Mansfield and Cheryl Pimpo; brother, Robert Mansfield Jr; and Son, James Copsey.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.  A committal service will follow at Meadow Green Cemetery, with a prayer being offered by a family friend at approximately 11:30 a.m., where entombment will take place.

Memorial donations may be made in Judy's name to Stein Hospice Care Center, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. The family wishes to send special thanks to the staff at St. John's Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio and Stein Hospice Care Center for their care and compassion during our wife and mother's last days. Judy's grandson once wrote a college essay about her. In it, he used the quote "it's not how hard you hit, it's about how hard you get hit and keep moving forward" to describe her. Judy fought so hard through all of her health and life struggles, never giving up, and she loved her family even harder. She set such a wonderful example for her family and we will miss her and her tenacity dearly, until we meet again.
