Judy A. Willbond (nee Halada), 65, went home to be with the Lord after a seven year battle with cancer on Sunday, December 28, 2008. Born in Lodi on September 17, 1943 to John and Ethylen Halada, Judy was a 1961 graduate of Buckeye High School and a lifelong Wellington area resident. Judy worked at Rockwell International and was a retired bookkeeper for Barnes and Noble at Oberlin College, formerly known as the Co-op Bookstore. Judy was a member of the Brighton United Methodist Church, the Eagles and a life member of the Wellington VFW. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, camping at Clare-Mar in the summer and most of all spending time with family and friends. She was a wonderful wife and friend, and an exceptional mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed by one and all. Judy left behind her husband of 25 years, John Willbond; her children, John Parris Willbond of Germany, Debora Gardner of Wellington, Laura Rudolph of Wellington, Matthew Willbond of Oberlin, Samatha Kirby, Kenneth Willbond of Wellington and Luke Willbond of Fayetteville, NC; 25 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Survivors also include her mother, Ethylen Waggaman; a brother, Johnny Halada; 2 sisters, Nancy Harvey and Jeanne; 1 sister-in-laws, Lillian Clark; aunt, Hilda Carey and several nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her father, John Halada; her stepfather, Virgil Waggaman; 2 grandson, Joseph Michael Gardner, Jydan Vandezande and several aunts and uncles. Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31 at the Brighton United Methodist Church, 51011 State Route 18, Brighton, with Pastor Christine Bell officiating. Burial will follow at the Brighton Twp. Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial contributions to the family.
