Julia C. Swiger, age 83, of Ashland died on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Majora Lane Center in Millersburg. Born October 25, 1941, in Rome, Georgia, she was the daughter of James Riley and Inez (Claudus) Patterson. Julia graduated from Elyria High School in 1960.

Crafting was one of Julia's favorite pastimes and she made many beautiful things, family and friends will cherish the beautiful Christmas decorations that she made them for years to come. She also made gorgeous quilts. For background noise as she worked, the TV was often on QVC as she loved shopping as well. When Julia wasn't crafting, you could often find her reading a Danielle Steele novel or riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Julia was an infectious spirit who will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her especially her beloved husband, Carl "David" Swiger whom she wed on March 26, 1987. Additional survivors include her children, Burl (Pam) Jernigan, Meg (Kenny) Robinson, Amy (Dan) McCloud, Jodi McCloud, James McCloud, and Bethany (Brian) Lacey; step-children, Sam Swiger, Yolanda (Keith) Samples, April Bloom, Bryan (Paulette) Swiger, and Dawn Swiger; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a sister, Phyllis (Dan) Cobb. Julia was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, May 16, 2025, from noon until 1:00 PM at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, OH 44851. A funeral ceremony officiated by her son, Pastor Burl Jernigan, will begin immediately following visitation at 1:00 PM. Interment will be held at Edwards Grove Cemetery at the conclusion of services at the funeral home.
