June 3, 1927 – April 18, 2023
Carol "June" (Gleason) Greene, 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 18, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Dementia. Born June 3, 1927 to Charles and Nellie Gleason in Westlake, OH, she moved with her family to Wakeman, OH in 1941. After graduating with the Wakeman High School Class of 1945, June married George C. Greene on June 15, 1946. During their 71 years of marriage, June and George lived on the family farm in Brighton Township where June loved raising her four children, cooking for family dinners, sewing, and flower gardening. She was employed for many years as a receptionist for Dr. Harry Hartmann.
June was a devoted and faithful member of the Brighton United Methodist Church. She and George were among the original members of the Brighton United Methodist Church's Couples Club. They served as advisors for the Methodist Youth Fellowship group. June and George were instrumental in the start-up and continued success of the church's Onion Ring Booth at the Lorain County Fair and the Election Day Swiss Steak Suppers.
June was an advisor for the Brighton Silver Thimbles 4-H Club, a volunteer and board member for Well- Help, Inc., and a volunteer with Westwood Elementary School's Reading to Grandparents program.
June is survived by her son David (Maryle) Greene of Bellevue and daughters Mary (Ken) Fenwick of Elyria, Becky (Craig) Norton of Brighton Township, and Jody (Dr. William) Spreng of Wellington. She is also survived by granddaughters Carol (Greene) Kelly, Janna (Greene) McPike, Carrie (Fenwick) Yohe, Stacy (Fenwick) Slack and Tabitha Spreng and great grandchildren Gabe and Drew Kelly, Elizabeth and Rebecca Yohe, and Marisa and Sara Slack.
June was preceded in death by her husband George C. Greene, her parents Charles and Nellie Gleason, and her sister Geraldine Gleason Price.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Home Health Care STNA, Sharon Howard and the staff and friends at the Sprenger Elms Retirement Village, Wellington for their kindness and loving care of their mother.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St., Wellington at 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Well-Help, Inc., 127 Park Place, Wellington, Ohio 44090 or the Brighton United Methodist Church, 51011 State Route 18, Wellington, OH 44090.
