June Marie Puka, age 96 of Wellington, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center, Lorain. She was born October 4, 1918 in Spencer, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Kitty (nee Emerson) Brown.
June had worked many years at George's 5 and 10 Store and at Forest City in Wellington. She was a member of the Wellington Eagles and the Farm Bureau. June enjoyed cooking and baking and had fed many people in her lifetime. She enjoyed watching old movies, cooking shows and traveling all over the United States with her husband and especially loved Las Vegas. June was a devout animal lover and she especially loved her cat, Tinker.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Susan) Puka of Wellington; her daughter, Shirley (Ed) Ferriman of Wellington; grandchildren, James Puka of Berea, Laurie (Bob) Wikle of Olmsted Falls, Vicki (Denni) Interliggi of Mason, Ohio, Scott (Cindy) Ferriman of Northville, Mi.; great grandchildren, Rylan and Cody, Brandon and Justin, Kimberly, Jennifer and Tommy; 5 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Puka; sister, Gladys Jameyson; brothers, Chuck, Horace, Emerson and Hershel Brown.
A private service and burial will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015, with Pastor Tom Keller officiating. Friends and family are invited to a Luncheon and Celebration of June's Life at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wellington Eagles Aerie 2051, 631 South Main St. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, Ohio 44035.
