Karen L. McMichael, 74, a lifelong Wellington resident, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 29, 1939 in Huntington to the late Mathew and Marian (nee Holland) King.
Karen worked as a machinist at both Nordson and Rockwell, and she owned and ran The Coffee Shop in Wellington for several years. Karen was an adventurous spirit and enjoyed riding motorcycles, rollerblading with her grandkids, and spending time traveling with family. She truly was the best and will be greatly missed.
Karen is survived by her children Marcelle (Neal) Workman of Wellington, T. Drew Pope of Fort Worth TX and Kelly (Douglas) Spence of Wellington; grandchildren, Amelia Workman Farago, Devin Workman, Zachary Workman, Kayleigh Spence, Parker Workman, Brianne Spence, Ashley Pope, Quinton Workman, Austen Pope, Logan Spence, and Madeline Pope, 6 great-grandchildren, and a brother Robert King. Karen was preceded in death by her husband William, son Shawn Pope, and siblings .
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 15, at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul Wilson officiating. Friends and family will also be welcomed later that afternoon at the Bread-N-Brew, 100 South Main, Wellington, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Condolences may be expressed online at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com
