Karen Marie Michaels, age 56, of West Salem, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 23, under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve, in Medina after a brave fight. A daughter of the late Patricia (Layne) and Hubert Fuller, Karen was born on January 20, 1969. She grew up in Lorain and moved to West Salem in 2004.
Karen owned and operated DK Sewer Cleaning in Lorain for many years. She found great peace in attending church and enjoyed gospel music. Karen loved spending time in her garden and treasured her time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Dwayne, who she loved for 40 years; children, Chad (Sammie) Michaels, Shawn (Jackie) Michaels, William Michaels, and Krista (Lucas) Bielinski; grandchildren, Andrew, Cameron, Mia, Noah and her granddaughter on the way, Evelyn. Karen is also survived by siblings, Ronald Fuller and Kristy (John) Sweeney and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Patricia and Hubert, Karen was preceded in death by an infant sister, Pam and sister, Kimberly.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, December 30 from 11 a.m. until noon. Burial will follow at West Salem Cemetery. Donations are encouraged in care of the funeral home to assist the family and condolences can be shared at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
