Katherine L. Marley, 72, of Amherst, and formerly of Wellington, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Katherine was born in Wellington on September 22, 1941 to the late Frank and Mary (nee Corriggio) Marley. She was a 1959 graduate of Wellington High School and a 1973 graduate of Lorain County Community College, where she majored in accounting and received a degree in general business.
Katherine lived in Elyria for several years and in Oberlin for 18 years before moving to Amherst in 2005. She worked for Lorain County Community College from 1973 to 1985 and also worked for a short time in home health care. Katherine spent 18 years as a receptionist for the Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority before retiring in August of 2005.
With dedication to showing kindness and compassion to others, Katherine volunteered her time for 5 years at Elyria Memorial Hospital and enjoyed 10 years as a community service volunteer at the Oberlin Community Center. She was also a member of the Amherst Eagles Aerie 1442, Amherst VFW Post 1662, Amherst American Legion Auxiliary Post 118, and the Elyria Moose Chapter 907.
Katherine is survived by her siblings Carl Marley of Wellington, Bill Marley of Avon Lake, and Marian Hoffman of Homerville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony and a sister, Theresa Hartman.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, May 27, from 5-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, and on Wednesday, May 28, from 10 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 512 North Main St., Wellington.
