Kevin Babcock, age 69, of Wakeman, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 surrounded by family and friends.

Kevin was born May 13, 1956 to Richard and Alice Babcock of New Haven, Ohio. He attended Willard High School and Pioneer Joint Vocational School, graduating in 1974. During this time he was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 224 where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating, he was employed at Suhr Custom Kitchens. He later decided to further his education at Ohio Northern University, majoring in Industrial Technology and Education.

Kevin began his career as an Industrial Arts Teacher at Avon High School and ended his 31 years teaching at New London Local Schools, retiring in 2011. A dedicated educator, he continued his own education at Ashland University, earning a special education certificate and masters degree in administration throughout his career. After retirement, he served on the New London School Board for 8 years.

During the summers and full time after retirement, Kevin put in many miles as a semi-truck driver. He hauled for Holthouse Farms of Willard, Ohio and later started his own grain hauling business KB Grain Transport.

Kevin was an active member of the community through New London United Methodist Church, and several clubs. Some of these included: The LaGrange Engine Club, Corn Shellers Club, Fireland’s Area Restorers of Machinery (FARM), and the International Harvester’s Collectors. He recently joined the Snowballers (snowmobile club) and the Wakeman Eagles.

When he had free time, Kevin enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was interested in hobby farming, restoring antique farm equipment and hit-and-miss engines, and snowmobiles. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, and boating/ fishing. He put family and friends first, and cherished the time that he was able to spend with those that he loved most.

Survivors include Kevin’s wife of nearly 35 years, Mary Ellen Babcock of Wakeman; son, Garrett (Taylor DiPlacido) Babcock of Cleveland; brother, David Babcock of Fostoria; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Richard and Alice Babcock; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Babcock and Virgil Babcock.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, OH 44851. A memorial service will immediately follow visitation beginning at noon, with Pastor Lori Douglas Weaver officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Brain Injury Association of America, the Arthritis Foundation, or the Huron County Humane Society.
