Obituary

Kewanee (Miller) Schmidt, passed away on May 16, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on February 16, 1934, in Gunlock, Kentucky, to Henry and Frankie (Wireman) Miller.

Throughout her life, Kewanee touched the hearts of many with her nurturing spirit and unwavering faith. She dedicated herself to caring for others through her work in daycare and real estate. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.

Kewanee found joy in the simple things in life - loved tending to her garden, cultivating blooming trees and rose bushes with a passion for growing things that was truly inspiring. Her love for animals extended beyond words as she enjoyed feeding birds daily and finding solace in nature's beauty.

A devoted reader of the Bible, Kewanee found strength and guidance in her faith every day. Her faithfulness and commitment to her beliefs served as a beacon of light for those around her.

Family was everything to Kewanee. She is survived by her loving daughter Tammy Schmidt, sisters Della Sutter and Ola Hall, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives she enriched with love and care. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Schmidt; her son, Eric Schmidt; parents, Henry and Frankie Miller; siblings, Jewel Justice and Joe Henry Miller; brother in law, Daniel "Bud" Hall.

Services to honor and celebrate Kewanee's life will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri. A visitation will take place on May 23, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Additional services for Kewanee will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W Main Street, New London, OH 44851. The additional Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with Funeral Services to begin at 1:00 PM and interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

In loving memory of Kewanee (Miller) Schmidt - a gracious soul who spread love wherever she went. May her kindness and warmth continue to inspire us all.
