Eastman Funeral Home 419-929-3781 King Biglow Rowland, 89, of New London, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at The Laurels of New London. He was born April 1, 1925, in New London, grew up in Rochester and lived the rest of his life in New London. He graduated from New London High School in 1943. King owned and operated King B. Rowland trucking for many years. King was a 55 year volunteer for New London Fire Department. He was a member of the New London United Methodist Church, through which he served on several mission teams. He was a member for over 50 years of the Masonic Lodge No. 260 F & AM and New London Grange. He was also a member of the New London Rotary Club for 49 years and attended meetings all over the US, Canada, Haiti and Sweden. He served 27 years as a director on the Firelands Electric Coop Board. Survived by his children, Dick (Faline) Rowland of Shelby, Mary Jo (Marion) Paramore, Carol Skillicorn and Linda (Mark) Roeder all of New London; grandchildren, Kendra (Jim) Smith; Ryan King Inmon, Tess (Kris) Thomas, Christopher (Deb) Rowland, Brianna McNeely, Brittany Skillicorn, Brooke Skillicorn, Shawn Roeder and Alex (Sarah) Roeder; 12 great grandchildren and brother, James F. Rowland of Martinsville, IN. King was preceded in death by his wife, Leah "Jean" Rowland; granddaughter, Megan Skillicorn; parents, Harry B. Rowland, Sr. and Irena (Biglow) Rowland; stepmother, Ruth Rowland; brother, Harry B. Rowland and son-in-law, Bob Skillicorn. King's family will greet friends Wednesday, July 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London where a service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Cheryl Roshon officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Street Cemetery, New London.
