Larry Gene Booth, of New London passed away at his home on Monday, November 12, 2018. He was 74. Born June 24, 1944 in Norwalk and raised in Clarksfield, to the late Ben and Oma (Anderson) Booth. He graduated in 1962 from New London High School and was involved in Boy Scouts and FFA. Larry attended Reedley College in Reedley, California. He served in the U.S. Navy AD J-4 from 1962 to 1966 as an aircraft mechanic on the USS Midway stationed in Lemoore, California. On October 5, 1974, married the love of his life, Cherryl Parsons and together they raised four children. Larry previously worked at Armstrong in California, Ortner Airport, Parker Transfer in Wakeman and a former school bus drive for New London Schools. He was the union steward for Teamsters and worked as a mechanic at E&L Transport until he retired. Larry was an active member of the American Legion and served as the financial officer. Without a doubt, he loved his children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If you knew Larry, you knew him for telling somewhat good jokes and being a trickster that often stayed back in the shadows. He really enjoyed a great cup of coffee and cherished his dogs and cat. Larry loved to play cards, cut firewood, garden, fish at the lake or the Vermilion River, being a mechanic, restoring tractors and building houses. Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Cherryl; children, Sunney Denson of New London, Dwight Booth of Mansfield, LaFonne (Danny) Mize of California and Brad Booth of New London; grandchildren, Stephen, Tashawna, Cheyanne, Lilly "Kate", Alivia, Leann, Ella and Ben; eight great-grandchildren with one more on the way and sister-in-law, Phyllis Booth of Wellington. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Wilburn Booth. Per Larry's wishes, he will be cremated and no calling hours will be observed.
