Obituary

Larry P. Coy, 85, of North Fairfield, passed away with his loving family by his side, Tuesday evening, July 25, 2023, at Fisher Titus Medical Center.

Larry was born on July 24, 1938, in Willard, OH, to the late Nina (Clock) Coy and Paul Coy. He was a lifelong resident of North Fairfield and graduated from North Fairfield High School in 1957. He was a member of the North Fairfield Fire Department and South Central School Board. Larry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was a 3rd class machinist mate in the engine room of the USS Conway DD507. Larry served in the Conway Reunion Association, serving as President from 2017-2019. Larry worked various jobs before farming for 25 years. His last employment was working beside his son at Janotta & Herner. Larry was a master of many trades and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren about his passions. He raised sheep on the family farm and was involved in the 4-H projects of his children. Larry was an avid traveler and enjoyed vacations with the Knudsen crew to Vermont and Iowa, tracing family history. One of his favorite memories was visiting Freedom Rock on top of a mountain. Larry also took a trip to Washington DC with a group of huron county veterans. They visited all the veteran memorials and now he's on his final journey to meet up with his boys. Larry's hobbies included guns, hunting, motocross, scuba diving, and home improvement projects. He had a wicked sense of humor that was always accompanied by a coy smile. Larry's love for his family was only matched by the admiration they felt for him.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia (White) Coy; daughter, Sharlene Coy of North Fairfield; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Coy of Mansfield; 4 grandchildren, Justin (Katlin), John Paul, Donald, Rachel (Bailey); sister, Linda White of North Fairfield, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his two sons, Barry Coy and Gary Coy.
