Obituary

Larry D. 'Meatball' Hall, 60, of New London, died May 30, 2009 at his home after a battle with cancer. Born in Pikeville, KY to Audis and Gladys (nee Case) Hall, Larry grew up in New London and was a 1966 New London High School graduate. After graduation, Larry moved to Sandusky and then Arizona before returning to New London in 1986. Larry worked at R & L Transfer for the past 25 years and also worked at BFI. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New London and the Knights of Columbus. Larry enjoyed baseball; he coached and umpired for both the New London Youth Baseball and Johnny Appleseed Leagues. An avid Harley motorcycle rider, Larry also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his 3 sons. Volunteering for the New London community came naturally to Larry. He served on the Village Council and the Firelands Ambulance Board, was a New London Volunteer Firefighter and drove for the Firelands Ambulance. Survivors include his loving wife, Kathryn (nee Singler); 3 sons, Chad (Jennifer) Hall of New London, Brad (Jodi) Hall of Pittsburg, PA and Matt (Amanda) Hall of Greenwich; 3 grandsons, Dylan and Caleb Hall of New London and Wyatt Hall of Greenwich and his parents, Audis and Gladys Hall. Larry is also survived by his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Tom and Lori Singler, Judy and Dan Hoppe, Joseph and Lisa Singler, Mary Lynn Singler, Stephanie and David Gamez and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received on Monday, June 1st from 6-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Avenue, New London with Father Chas Singler and Father Doug Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
