Larry R. Mesnard, 72, of Monroeville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday September 25, 2019 in Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk, Ohio.  He was born on April 4, 1947, to the late Harry E. and Dolores R. (Rupp) Mesnard in Norwalk, Ohio.  Larry grew up in Monroeville, in what is known as the Octagon House in town and he was a lifelong resident.  He graduated from Monroeville High School in 1966 and is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Following graduation, Larry joined the Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and served during the Vietnam war.

Larry worked as an inspector for Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, Ohio and the City of Monroeville as a part time auxiliary police officer for many years. During a brief lay-off from Ford, he served full time as a police officer returning to Ford until his retirement in 2001 after 35 years of employment.  He was a laid-back and simple man who was very patient and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Larry enjoyed wood working and carving, fishing, playing games, playing cards, going out to dinner, visiting casinos, and he really loved cats.  He was known by family and friends as a handyman and could make or fix almost anything, and he shared those skills with his daughter.  He enjoyed attending activities for Amanda's running events, Alex's martial arts and Megan's band.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Rebecca A. (Waits) Mesnard of Monroeville, by his daughter, Lisa M. (Chad) Wahl of Bellevue, Ohio, and by his grandchildren, Amanda, Alex, and Megan Wahl of Bellevue, Ohio.  He is also survived by his siblings, Jan S. (Spider) Webb of Norwalk, Ohio, Mary Ann "Annie" Mesnard of Livonia, Michigan, by his sister-in-law Barbara Mesnard of Monroeville, Ohio, by his brother-in-law Ronald MacMurray of Milan, Ohio and his loving cat "Simon".  In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his siblings, Donald H. Mesnard and Jean M. MacMurray.

Friends may call on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker-Eastman-Heydinger funeral home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio 44857. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St. Monroeville, Ohio 44847 at 10:00 a.m.  Rev, Ronald Schock will officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
