Larry R. Sanders, 80, of Greenwich, OH died on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born on July 31, 1945, in Willard, OH, the son of the late Richard and Mary (Pettit) Sanders.
Larry graduated from South Central High School, Class of 1962 and furthered his education at Oberlin College where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. He had an impressive 35-year career with RR Donnley of Willard and additional years at Poly One in Norwalk, OH.
Larry could often be found cruising around town in his pickup truck or caring for his animals that he dearly loved. He enjoyed playing softball, hunting, riding horses, being in the woods, playing euchre or Yahtzee. Being with his family is what he enjoyed the most, even though they often thought he was stubborn. His grandchildren especially enjoyed the beef jerky he shared with them; the softball game talks. Ember's favorite memory is when Poppy told her, “I have to cut off this deal of paying you for hit, I'm going to have to take a loan out to keep up with your hits.” While Zaydee's is her Poppy and Nana playing Keepy Uppy.
Larry is survived by his wife, Diane (Schlenbaker) Sanders; children, Shellie (Mike) Allen of Greenwich, Mikey (April) Sanders of Willard; grandchildren, Ashlee (Josh) Phillips, Madee (Curtis Fredericks) Allen, Kelsee Sanders, Kalyssa (Mason) Peters and Kaleb Sanders; great-grandchildren, Ember, Harlee, Wyatt, Zaydee, Phoenix, Stormee and two on the way, Cade and Amelia; brother, Carl (Jeannie) Pettit of Norwalk, brothers-in-law, Dann Schlenbaker and Bobby (Vera) Schlenbaker; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Ralph Pettit and in-laws, Ellen and Larry Shull.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. at the Ripley Church, 4130 Edwards Road, Greenwich, OH. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 25, beginning at 11:00 a.m., also at the church. Burial to follow at Edwards Grove Cemetery.
