Laura M. Hickey, age 94, of Ashland went to her heavenly home with her family gathered around her at Brethren Care in Ashland, Ohio on Monday, June 27, 2022.

Laura was born October 23, 1927, in Oberlin, Ohio to the late Oral C. Steffen and Ida J. Lottman. She graduated from Ruggles-Troy school in 1946 and married Dennis T. Hickey on June 26, 1947.

Laura was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, Happy Hour Club and Ruggles Garden Club. She enjoyed bowling, baking pink cookies and making chocolate candy. She enjoyed playing euchre with family and friends. Her faithfulness was her greatest attribute listening to mass and devoted to praying the rosary several times day and always before bed.

She was a homemaker and worked side by side with Dennis running Polk Feed & Supply, Hickey Trucking Business and Farming.

Survivors: Children Tim (Peg) Hickey, Cliff Hickey, Linda (Mike) Bromley, Cindy (Jeff) Martin, Nancy (Wayne) Spencer, Tom (Kelly) Hickey, Lisa Kerr, Daughter-in-law Lila Hickey, Son-in-law Bill Stewart, in-laws Paul Hickey (Mary Lou) and Patricia Mumaw, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, son Jeff Hickey; daughter Debbie Stewart; son-in-law Jeff Martin and great-granddaughter Elise Bell; siblings Ervin Steffen and Ruth Jacobs; in-laws Delora Steffen, John Jacobs, Mary and John Bonfiglio, Ruth and Brooks Ringler, Don and Helen Hickey.

Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m.  on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London.  Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1, at St Edwards Church, 591 Cottage Street, Ashland with Father Rod Kreidler officiating. Burial will follow at Ruggles Cemetery.
