Laverne E. Newberger, age 80, of Holiday, FL, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at Allen Community Hospital after a sudden illness. He was in Wellington for his high school reunion, a great grandson's graduation, and to visit old friends. He was born on January 29, 1929 in Wellington son of the late Eugene and Cleata Newberger. Laverne was a former resident of Wellington until moving to Holiday, Florida thirty-one years ago. Laverne proudly served in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed camping, visiting with family and friends, and life in general. Survivors include his daughter, Melody Teehan of Elyria; sons, Randall Newberger of MN and Dale Newberger of TX; step sons, Gerald Arnold of Medina and John Arnold of Wellington; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Laverne is also survived by a sister, Ephlyn Helton of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Charlotte Newberger. There will be no services. The family entrusted arrangements to Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington.
