Leland B. DeLamater, age 78, of Greenwich, died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Fisher
Titus Medical Center, Norwalk after a short illness. He was born July 31, 1931 in Milan,
Ohio, son of the late Ernest and Hazel (Mills) DeLamater. Leland grew up in Milan and
had lived in Greenwich since 1961. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean
Conflict. Leland retired from G.T.E. as a repairman in 1980. After retirement he
worked at the Durable Mat Co. in Norwalk, Versitech and Lake Park Industries both in
Greenwich. He was a Ripley Township Trustee for 16 years. Leland was past
president of the Greenwich Rotary, a member of the Willard American Legion Post 514, and a former troop leader for the Greenwich Boy Scouts 225.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Irene (Gaag) DeLamater; 2 daughters, Mary (Jim)
Hartchuch of New London, Iowa, Susan (Randy) Philbrick of Willard; a son, Michael
(Sherri) DeLamater of Delaware, Ohio; 3 stepchildren, Donna (Randy) Caudill and
David (Lucy) McPeek all of Collins, Denise (Rick) Sexton of Willard; 16 grandchildren
10 step great grandchildren; his siblings, Margaret (Nelson) McBride of Arizona,
Kenneth (Clarice ) DeLamater of Milan, Pearl (Glenn) Gaag of Norwalk.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joann Barnett, 1 sister and 3 brothers.
Friends may call from 5 ' 8 Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Eastman Funeral Home,
49 West Main St., Greenwich and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
Wednesday with Pastor Danny Caudill officiating. Military rites will follow the service.
