Leon Furcron passed away peacefully on February 18, 2017 while under Hospice care in Wellington Ohio. Leon was born on January 18, 1930 to Morris and Amy Furcron Sr. The fourth child of eight; Leon grew up in Wellington Ohio. He attended and graduated from Wellington High School where he excelled in academics, track and baseball. Leon was later drafted into the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge from the military, he attended Youngstown University earning a Bachelor's in Education. Leon taught in the Ohio Public School system for 24 years before finishing up his career in Cleveland. He was an active participant in St. Philips Lutheran East High School. His diligence, commitment and care did not go unnoticed as he was awarded the CLEEF Award by Lutheran East High School Board Members in 2001. Leon lived a rich and fulfilling life. He was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Amy Furcron Sr. and siblings Dorothy, Etta, Howard and Russell. Leon is survived by his wife Gwen and children Portia (Rogers) and Stephen, his four siblings Marie, Morris Jr., Leman and Harold, as well as many beautiful grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends February 25, 2017 from 9:30 am until the time of service at 10:30 am at the First Congregational U.C.C., 140 South Main Street, Wellington, Ohio 44090.
