Leslie W. Hess, 73, of New London, passed away Friday, November 6, 2026, at his residence.
He was born June 29, 1953, in Ashland, Ohio. Les was a graduate of New London High School, Class of 1971, and dedicated 35 years of service to Norwalk Furniture. He was a former member of the New London Eagles and enjoyed participating in the Huron County Club Dartball League. In his younger years, he also enjoyed playing softball and golf.
A lifelong sports fan, Les could often be found cheering on the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Ohio State Buckeyes. However, his greatest joy in life was his family. He was a proud and devoted father whose children were the center of his world, and nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether attending sporting events, school programs, dance recitals, or other family activities, Les was always there to offer his support, encouragement, and love. The memories he created with his family and the pride he took in their accomplishments will be cherished forever.
Those who knew Les will remember his steady presence, his quiet strength, his sense of humor, and the unconditional love he gave so freely to his family. His legacy lives on through the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were fortunate to know his love and guidance.
Les is survived by his loving wife, Michele (Ferber) Hess, whom he married in 1972; his four children, Keith Martin of Seattle, Washington, Michael (Dawn) Hess of New London, Brooke (Carl) Squire of New London, and Adrianne (Kemmes Jr.) Keys of Cincinnati; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ed Ports of New London.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine (Hess) Ports, and his brother, Greg Hess.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, at msfocus.org. Expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
