Lester Gordon Swick, 79, of Bridgeport West Virginia, currently residing
in Wellington Ohio, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Wade
Park Veterans Hospital in Cleveland. Born in Lost Creek, WV to the late
Farley and Mellie (nee Wright) Swick, Lester proudly served his country in
the United States Army as a medic during the Korean War. He received a
Purple Heart for his service.
Lester retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Clarksburg, WV
after many years. He was a member of the Middleville Baptist Church and
the VFW. Lester enjoyed walking, mowing his lawn and tinkering around the
house.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Cecilia (nee Flaherty)
Swick; daughter, Kim (John) Quinn of Wellington and 2 granddaughters,
Kaitlynn and Jessica. Lester is also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother,
Mary Ethel Virginia, Farley, Jr., Virginia and Caroll. He was preceded in
death by a sister, Juanita and three brothers, Robert, Claude and Ray.
Services will be held Thursday November 12 at 1p.m. With visiting hours starting at
10 a.m. at Ford
Funeral Home, 215 East Main St. Bridgeport, WV. Burial will follow at the West
Virginia
National Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Lester, can be directed to the
