Linda A. Fries (O’Dell), 78, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away suddenly in Cranberry Township, PA, on December 21, 2025, after a long and courageous seven-year battle with kidney disease. She was the cherished oldest daughter of the late Lyle F. and Lois O’Dell.
A proud 1965 graduate of Norwalk St. Paul, Linda retired from her work as a caring bus driver for the Western Reserve School District. She was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk, Ohio.
Linda shared 58 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Thomas C. Fries, who lovingly cared for her throughout her illness and took great pride in supporting her. Together, they raised four children—Lisa (Gary) Meosky of Hickory, NC; Nicole Bond of Norwalk; Molly (Robert) Galbraith of Cranberry Township, PA; and Aaron (Sarah) Fries of Norwalk—each of whom she adored deeply.
Family meant everything to Linda. She was known affectionately as “Gramma” and “Mema” to Kalyn (Zade) Denton, Zachary Meosky, Gabriel Bond, Ryan, Lauren, and Emily Galbraith, Landon, Casey, and Ava Fries, and was overjoyed to welcome her great-grandson, Larkin Denton. Meeting him and witnessing four generations together filled her with pride and happiness.
Linda is also survived by her doting siblings, Louise O’Dell, Lawrence (Elaine) O’Dell, and Lyle (Ana) O’Dell, sister in-law, Beth O’Dell, as well as many loving relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lance O’Dell.
Linda’s heart was fullest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She found joy in gardening, nature, making crafts with her grandkids and she cherished every chance to travel to see her family. Nothing delighted her more than cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, dance recitals, and theater performances. She celebrated every accomplishment, large or small, and looked forward to each new milestone with enthusiasm.
Her support, quick wit, kindness, and generous spirit brought light and laughter to everyone she met. Even as she faced illness with remarkable courage and determination, Linda continued to inspire and uplift those around her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Linda’s name may be made to the St. Paul Catholic School Athletic Department, 93 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
