Lois Marie Sheffield, 81, of Wellington died at home on Monday, November 17, 2014. She was born on June 15, 1933 in Wellington to the late Robert Avery and Leona Lucille (nee Sugaski) Sheffield. Lois was a 1951 graduate of Brighton High School, recipient of "The Babe Ruth Medal," and her class Valedictorian. Lois worked for The Troxel Company, Rockwell Industries, and delivered the Elyria Chronicle for several years. Baseball was a passion for Lois. As a young lady she played short stop in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League for the South Bend Blue Sox. Lois also played for the Oberlin Blue Flames. Her love of baseball extended beyond her time as a pro-ball player, she was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and also enjoyed riding her bike down to watch ball games at the Wellington Rec Park. Lois is survived by her brother Paul Sheffield of Wellington; nieces and nephews, Marsa Skinner, Paula Terry, Robert Sheffield, and Debbie Habern; her sister, Joan Quintana, also of Wellington; nephews William, Daniel, and David Carlyle, John and Frank Quintana, Jr.; and many great nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received on November 29, from 9:30 am until the time of a memorial mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 512 North Main Street, Wellington beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Fr.
