Lois Zimmerman, 88, of New London, was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Born April 27, 1924, in Nova, daughter to the late John O. and Mable Smith. Lois married Robert K. Zimmerman on July 24, 1943 at her parent's home. They were long time residents of New London. She worked for several years at Wight Jewelers where she enjoyed meeting new friends. She was a member of the New London United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, New London Grange 2401, and New London Historical Society and volunteered for Hospice of North Central in Ashland. Lois was interested in current events, enjoyed crafting, tending her flowers and being with her friends and grandchildren. She knit 184 sweaters for the Knit for Kids Sweater project. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Zimmerman, son, Robert K. Zimmerman, Jr., 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Survived by her daughters, Ruth Ann (Harvey) Cunningham of Coshocton; Jo Ann (Richard) Hout of West Jefferson and Polly Ann (Parminder) Sandhu of Findlay; daughter-in-law, Susie Zimmerman of Cleveland, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Cunningham, Suresh and Jasveer Sandhu, Alexa (Rich) Ean, Tammy (Stuart) Schakett and Kim (Scott) Hewitt; great granddaughters, McKenna and Samantha Hewitt; brother, Ralph Smith and many more relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 21 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New London United Methodist Church, 58 East Main Street with Rev. Ben Black officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery, New London.
