Lorene Marie Charlton, 74, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Samaritan Regional Health Systems in Ashland. Born on July 19, 1935 in Parma to the late Leonard L. and Helen Elizabeth (nee Darr) Pope, Lorene graduated from Lodi High School. For many years she worked as the Group Home Supervisor for Weber Health Care in Wellington. Lorene was a worthy matron of the Ohio Eastern Star in both Sullivan and Wellington. She also helped the Black River Booster Club by running the concession stand. Lorene loved bowling, playing bingo, flowers, and birds. Survivors include her sons, Charles (Suzanne) Charlton, of Alabama, Bradley Charlton, of Amherst, Dennis (Heidi) Charlton, of Wellington, Edward (Heather) Charlton, of Spencer and 6 grandchildren, Paige, Richard, Mackenzie, Rebecca, Justin and Stryker. Lorene is also survived by 5 brothers, Raymond (Beverly) Pope, of Lodi, Thomas (Patsy) Pope, of Katy, TX, Leonard (Lois) Pope, of Orangeburg, SC, Robert (Shirley) Pope, of Burbank, Bruce (Joyce) Pope of Homerville; and 2 sisters, Doris Formanek, of Lodi and Cheryl (Ron) Eagle, of Jeromesville. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles and siblings, Ruth (Joe) Reynolds and Harvey (Carolyn) Pope. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington with an OES service at 7:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Lorene will be buried at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, OH at a later date.
