Louis Michowka, age 83, of Ruggles, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at the University of Toledo Medical Center after a short illness. Louis was born July 16, 1925 in Elyria, son of the late Louis and Helen (Bavjace) Michowka. He grew up in the Elyria and Oberlin areas and lived in Ruggles for many years. Louise worked at F.E. Meyers in Ashland for several years and worked for the former Ohio Body in New London until the late 1970's. He enjoyed spending his time going to various auctions in the area. Survivors include his children, Evelyn Haven of Ashland, Eugene (Hope) Michowka of Wooster, Joann Michowka of Ruggles, Ronnie (Goldie) Michowka of Ashland, Donna Michowka of Ruggles, Virgil (Janice) Michowka of Norwalk, Thelma Michowka of Polk, Jerry (Hazel) Michowka of Adario and Gary Michowka of Greenwich; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Julia (Alex) Sakal of Elyria and Rose Schweda of Berea. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; son, Louis Michowka, Jr.; grandson, Dylan Michowka; 1 brother and 2 sisters. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2008 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London where a funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Martin Daly officiating. Burial will follow at Savannah Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
