Lucille P. Worcester, 92, of Oberlin, died May 16, 2012 at her residence. Born on October 12, 1919 in Birmingham to the late Arthur J. and Ruth M. (nee Kendeigh) Portman, Lucille graduated from Oberlin High School in 1937. She received both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Oberlin College.
For 23 years Lucille was an art teacher working for Wellington and Elyria Schools and substituting at Oberlin School. She was a member of the Pittsfield Community Church and First Church of Oberlin. Lucille greatly enjoyed needlepoint and was a member of a Needlework Club. Her other hobbies included pottery, weaving, knitting, gardening and painting with both watercolor and acrylic paints.
Survivors include her children, James (Debbi), of Golden, CO, Charles (Margaret), of Vermilion, and David (Rhonda), of Wellington; 4 grandchildren, Kevin and Michael Worcester, Leslie Joseph and Natalie Worcester and 1 great grandson, James. Lucille is also survived by a sister, Thelma Stansell, of NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; sister, Melba Kirk and brother, Arthur J. Portman, Jr.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery with Pastor David T. Hill officiating. Donations in memory of Lucille can be directed to the Oberlin Public Library, 65 S. Main St., Oberlin, OH 44074. Arrangements were entrusted to Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, Wellington.
