Lyle A. Barre, 78, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at MedCentral Health System in Mansfield after a short illness. He was born on January 30, 1933, in Greenwich and lived the majority of his life in Mansfield.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force overseas during the Korean War. Lyle retired in 1993 from Copperweld in Shelby.
Lyle was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club and served as an Auxiliary Officer with the State Highway Patrol at the Norwalk Post.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Geraldine 'Judy' (Noble); and his wonderful daughters, Linda (Mark) Stephenson of NC, Brenda (Ed) Stevens of Lucas, Tammy (Coby) Holloway of Galion, Glenda 'Ginny' (Jason) Danals and Pamela (Dino) Fava both of Mansfield and grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Zach), Kathryn, Taylor, Jennifer, Brandon, Chase and Alex. He is also survived by his stepmother, Garnet Barre of Shelby and brothers, Robert Barre (Sharon) of Lexington, Rodney (Vicki) Barre of Shelby and Kenneth (Carol) Barre of Bellville. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Martha (Shoemaker) Barre.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, September 30 at the Greenwich First Baptist Church, 96 Townsend Street, Greenwich where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow at Edwards Grove Cemetery, Greenwich. Memorial donations in Lyle's name may be directed to the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland, 3601 South Green Road, Suite 100, Cleveland, Ohio 44122.
