Obituary

Lyle Gardner Jameyson, 91, of Wellington, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Allen Community Hospital in Oberlin. Lyle was born February 15, 1919 in Wellington to the late Earl B. and Lulu (nee Hall) Jameyson. He graduated with the Wellington High School class of 1937. Lyle later joined the Army Air Corps where he served in Guam from 1942 -1946 during WWII. Farming was Lyle's passion and something he truly enjoyed. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Lorain County Transit, Agricultural Stabilization Council (ASC), and he sat on the Wellington Hospital and Southern Lorain County Hospital Boards. A long time Lorain County Fair Board Director, Lyle also served as a Wellington Township Trustee and ran for County Commissioner in the 1970's. Lyle was member of the Eagles and VFW, both in Wellington. Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years, Marian (nee Linden); daughters, Debra (Jack) Cochrane, of Amherst, Karen (Barry) Starkey of LaGrange; and 3 grandchildren, Jack L. and Bradley Cochrane and Barry 'Jamie' Starkey. Lyle is also survived by brothers, Howard and Donald Jameyson, both of Wellington. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Harris, Maxine Simonson and Russell Jameyson. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, May 10 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 11 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lea Mahan officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington with military rites.
