Lyle D. Moffit, 71, of Fitchville, died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Fisher-Titus
Medical Center. He was born in Greenwich Twp. on July 19, 1937 to the late Elmer and Dora Moffit and lived most of his life in Fitchville.
He farmed for many years and owned and operated Moffit's Custom Butchering in Huntington and New London. Lyle also worked for Ruggles Inc. and retired from R&L Trucking in the late 1990's. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Doris; children, Mike (Judy) Moffit, Sr. of North
Fairfield, Tim (Valery) Moffit of Rochester, Fred Moffit, Sr. of Monroeville
and Cindy (Brian) Griffin of North Fairfield; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Fred) Copsey of Ruggles; brother, Bill (Dorothy) Moffit of Norwalk; sister-in-law, Virginia Moffit of Norwalk and numerous nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by sister, LaDonna Moffit and brother, Robert Moffit.
Friends and family will be received 3-6 p.m., Sunday, March 8th and 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London with Rev. Tom Matus officiating. Burial to follow at Fitchville Cemetery.
