Mae L. Garn, 87, of LaGrange went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 18, 2013. She was born on March 14, 1925 in Smithfield, West Virginia to the late Martin Armstrong and Anna Pearl (nee Scott) Ensminger. Mae grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Smithfield High School, she moved to Lorain County in the late 40's.
Mae worked as a cook most of her life. She owned Blue and White Diner for 15 years and worked at Choo-Choo's in LaGrange until she was 83. She was a member of the Wellington VFW Auxiliary. Mae will be remembered for her delicious cooking and baking, but most precious to her was her family, whom she cherished.
Survivors include her children Calvin A. (Nancy) Wyckoff, Rita D. Uline, and Debra L. Wyckoff, step children Bob Sr. (Jeani) Porter, Gerry (Dwight) Askew, David (Susie) Porter, Charles Garn, Karla (Jerry) Bickley, and Edward Garn, grandchildren Timothy Wyckoff (Angela Wineman), Charles Watkins, Kimberly Poythress, Robert Jr. (Tammy) Porter, Ryan (Heather) Porter, Bethany and Adam Rutherford, Daniel Askew, and Jared Bickley, great grandchildren Alyssa, Austin, Ashley, Danielle, Tracy, Mckala, Justin, Leo, Maddie, Allie, Rease, Robert III, Abby, Mariah, and Calob. Mae is also survived by sisters Betty Krajcik and Virginia Moran. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 32 years Charles Wyckoff and her second husband of 21 years Karl Garn, a grandson Christopher Watkins, son-in-law Bernard Uline, and siblings Isaac Ensminger, Willard Ensminger, Jesse Lorraine Poulton, Nancy Manning and Wanda Gump.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, February 21, from 4-9 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St. Wellington. Services will be held Friday beginning at 11 a.m. with Rev.
