Mae Jones, age 88, of Greenwich, died Thursday at Samaritan Regional Health System, Ashland after a sudden illness. She was born December 5, 1920 in Harrogate, Tennessee, daughter of the late W.Tipp and Margretta Alice (Estep) Brooks. She had lived in South Charleston, Ohio and New London since 1944. Mae had worked at the former C.E. Ward Co. in New London. She attended the First Baptist Church in New London. Mae had been a 4-H Advisor for several years. She loved to garden, sew and was well known for her baking. She was a member of the Ruggles Grange.
She is survived by her children, Connie Walker of San Antonio, Texas, Jackie (Bob) Sanford of Ashland, Pat (Hal) Newhouse of Greenwich, Deb (John) Boyer of Ashland, Jim Jr. (Sandy) Jones of Salisbury, North Carolina, Gregg (Bev) Jones of New London; 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; her sister, Rita Hines of South Charleston, Ohio; and her sister in law, Edith Brooks of Xenia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Jim Jones, Sr., 10 brothers and sisters.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials if desired may be given to the First Baptist Church of New London, 432 Park Ave., New London, Ohio 44851. Eastman Funeral Home, New London were in charge of arrangements.
