Manuel Lee "Chip" Thorn, 67, of Wellington, died Thursday, November 24, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 28, 1949 in Vina Alabama to Kenneth and Lore (nee Vinson) Thorn and moved to the Cleveland area as a child. Chip was a graduate of West Tech High School in Cleveland and moved to the Wellington area in 1975. Chip worked for General Motors as a Benefit rep and retired after 36 years. He was a member of the Mason Lodge as well as the UAW. Chip was an active member of the Wellington First Baptist Church, teaching Awan for several years. He also volunteered his time as an advisor for the Penfield Partners 4-H club. Chip enjoyed time with his friends, attending the McDonalds Coffee club. He liked to be outdoors especially working in his garden. Most of all Chip cherished time with his family, spending time with his grandkids and attending their sporting events. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Carolen (nee Tipton), his daughter Angela (John) Yaworsky; his mother Lore Thorn; grandchildren Jackie, Robert and Grace Groot, Austin, Amanda, Julia and Justin Yaworsky; son-in-law Aaron Groot; sisters Inez Rice, and Irene Scherer. Chip was preceded in death by his father Kenneth, daughter Michelle Groot, and his mother and father-in-law William and Thelma Tipton. Friends and family will be received on Sunday, November 27, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main, Wellington, 44090, where services will be held on Monday beginning at 10 a.m. with Rev.
