Margaret A. "Peggy" Harris (nee McConnell), 80, of Huntington Twp, passed away peacefully Friday, March 10, 2017, in Okeechobee, FL.
Peggy was born on November 9, 1936 in Rittman to Dare and Leona (nee Madigan) McConnell. She graduated from Ruggles Troy in 1954 and attended LCCC.
She loved to travel with family and friends and visited many places including Germany, London, Hawaii, Colorado and especially enjoyed Florida. Peggy started doing taxes in 1969 and built her own business, Harris Tax Service. She also drove Bus for Black River Schools and worked as a rural route carrier for Wellington Post Office. She loved nature, and also was a concessionaire for Ohio State Parks. Starting at Findley State Park Camp Commissary, and ending that career at Findley State Park Boat Rental. She also served as Huntington Twp Clerk/Fiscal Officer from 2000 to 2012. She loved attending any and all of her children's, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events and activities through the years. she liked playing cards, trips to casinos, working in her yard, jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and her Cleveland Indians.
She is survived by her loving children, Deborah Lance, of Wellington, Joanne Kepler, of Kitty Hawk, NC, Timothy (Margie) Harris, of Bowling Green, Catherine (Jack) Mitchell, of Centennial, CO, Carol Sipes, of Wellington, and Rebecca (John) Scali, of Huntington; grandchildren Brian, Lisa, and Angie Lance, Misti Ford, Mathew Kepler, Joey, Abby, and Libby Harris; Caitie and Jessica Mitchell, Theresa Wacker, Emily and Melissa Sipes, Krista and Megan Foky, Johnny and Jacob Scali; great-grandchildren Mitchell, Maggie, Cadin, Owen, Madison, Gabrielle, McKenna, Sophie, Hailey, Madeline, Kaitlyn and Taylor; sister Patricia Young, of New London; brothers Richard (Gail) McConnell, of Eaton, Don McConnell, of Lorain, and James (Debbie) McConnell, of Sullivan. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Lou Call, brothers Edward and Robert McConnell, Twin great-granddaughters Rylee and Adeline Chapman, and father of her children Merle Harris.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. at St Patrick Catholic Church, 512, North Main, Wellington. Burial will follow at Huntington Twp, Cemetery. A Celebration of Peggy's life will be held following the burial at the Lorain County Fairgrounds. Memorial contributions may be directed to Huntington Twp, 45955 St Rt 162, Wellington, 44090.
