Obituary

Margaret 'Madge' Miller, 90, of New London, died Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firelands in New London. She was born in Dearth, Pennsylvania on January 1, 1920, daughter to the late Joseph S. and Anna Martha (Jednock) Targos. Madge attended Uniontown High School. She moved in 1938 from Searights, Pennsylvania to New London. Soon after moving to New London, Madge started working for Hahn's Restaurant. She was introduced to and married her soul mate, Floyd Miller, in September of 1940. Over several years, she worked at Don and Edie Sutherland's Dari-Delite. Most of us will remember "Mrs. Miller" sitting in study hall keeping everyone very quiet where she worked for New London Schools for 26 years as study hall monitor. Madge was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, New London and the Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the New London American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her loving husband, Floyd; daughters, Tootie (Dale) Grospitch of New London, Marcia (Richard) Torp of South Haven, Michigan; son, Dennis (Dawn) Miller of Lousville, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Wendy (Brian) Batdorf, Eric (Lisa) Coey, Shannon (Jim) Horvath, Jodi (Josh) Wright and Dana Torp; 5 great grandchildren, Austin, Hayden and Carson Coey; Benjamin and Kaylyn Horvath; and 2 special great grandchildren (not by blood, but by loving heart and soul), Ashley Anderson and Megan Belomy. Madge is also survived by her 2 sisters, Helen Varvaro and Clara Spoljarick. She was preceded in death by her son, Barry Lee Miller; siblings, Andrew, Joe, Mary, Rose, Ann, Irma, Matilda, and Dorothy. Friends and family will be received 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Avenue, New London with burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery, New London. Following burial, food and refreshments will provided for all friends and family at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church basement. Memorials if desired may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, Ohio 44805.
