Margaret Jean Archer Schafer, age 81, of Greenwich, died Tuesday morning, April 3, 2012 at Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk. She was born October 17, 1930 in New London, daughter of the late George Lewis and Louise Eva (Beard) Carpenter. Growing up Jean lived in New London, Olena and Greenwich. She was a 1949 graduate of New London High School. Jean moved to Arizona in 2000 and returned to Greenwich in 2010. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1968. Jean had worked at Maier Nursing Home in Fitchville, Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Ashland and the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Peoria, Arizona. She had been a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church, New London and most recently attended the Ripley Church, Greenwich. She is survived by her children, Robert H (Beverly) Archer of Nova, Kevin A. (Darlene) Archer of Shiloh and Gail (Bruce ) Knoll of North Fairfield, Pam (Raymond) Stima of Shelby; 4 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and many step great grandchildren; her siblings, Patsy Lincoln of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and her brother, Melvin 'Sonny' Chew of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert H. Archer, Sr. in 1979, Richard L. English, 1999 and Al 'Corky' Schafer in 2003. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Eric Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park.
