Marie A. Mycek, 79, of Wellington, died Monday, September 2, 2013 at home after a lengthy illness. She was born on February 20, 1934 in New Windsor, New York to the late John and Bertha (nee Pecka) Gimbert and was a 1951 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. Marie grew up and spent her youth in New York, moving to Wellington in 1960.
Marie worked with her husband at P.O.V. Products. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and liked to knit and read. Marie enjoyed the simple life, devoting herself to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Marie is survived by her loving husband George, who she would have been married to for 61 years on the 21st of September. She is also survived by her children, Patricia (Jack) Sumpter, Beth( Mark) Zacharias, and Pete (Lisa) Mycek all of Wellington, grandchildren, Daniel and David Sumpter, Joseph, Jared, John, Anne, and Abby Zacharias, and Jacob and Amanda Mycek, 8 great grandchildren, and a sister Elizabeth Cannon of Middletown, NY.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, September 4, from 3-5 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St., Wellington and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Fr. James Reymann officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
