Marilyn J. Handley, 78, of Sullivan, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. A daughter of the late Fred and Fannie (nee Briner) Hartley, Marilyn was born in Polk on January 10, 1933. She graduated from Polk High School in 1951.
Marilyn worked at the United States Post Office in Mansfield until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of the Polk Christian Church. Marilyn enjoyed making crafts and attending craft shows and participated in the 13 year Chief Joseph Trail Ride.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Arlen; children, Mark (Cindy) Handley, of Ashland, Susan (Jerry) Veverka, of Spencer, Gail L. Handley, of Mansfield, Brenda L. Handley, of Sullivan; grandchildren, Paula, Gwen, Gretchen, Andrea, and Michael and great grandchildren, Madilynn, Troy and Braden. Marilyn also leaves behind siblings, Jerry and James Hartley, and Jane Welling. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond and sister, Delores.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, March 23, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a memorial service starting at 11 a.m. at Norton- Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St. Wellington.
