Marion A. Nirode, 80 years old, of Wellington, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Anthony and Olga (nee Debevec) Debelak, Marion was born in Cleveland on February 21, 1945. After graduating from Collinwood High School, she attended Bowling Green State University and obtained her bachelor's degree in elementary education and then a master's degree in special education.

She would begin her teaching career as an elementary school teacher in the Mentor school district. While teaching in Mentor, she met her future husband and love of her life, Bernie. Marion then took a break from teaching to start a family. Marion and Bernie then settled in Wellington in 1971.

Marion and Bernie owned and operated the Dari Barn ice cream stand in Wellington from 1977-1984 and The Other Place Restaurant from 1983-1990.  After her children were older, Marion returned to teaching in 1990. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Wellington school district and then taught in the Clearview school district before retiring in 2009. Marion served two terms as a member of the Wellington School Board. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellington.

Marion loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching Ohio State football games and attending her grandchildren's activities.

She is survived by her children, Adam (Annette) Nirode, of Strongsville, Vanessa Nirode, of New York, NY, Will (Melissa) Nirode, of Woodbury, NY, and Wayne Nirode, of Troy, OH and three loving grandchildren. Marion was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Bernard "Bernie" Nirode in 2024; her sister, Margaret, and her parents.

Family and friends are invited to visitation at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, OH 44090 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Wellington First United Methodist Church, 127 Park Place, Wellington, OH 44090. Rev. Hyeran Yu will officiate. Burial will follow funeral services at Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington.
