Marjorie A. Bender, 76, of Wellington, died Friday, July 29, 2011 at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin. The daughter of the late Hershel and Margaret Purdum, Marjorie was born on April 9, 1935. After graduating from Youngstown High School, Marjorie attended Kent State University.
She was a third grade teacher for Keystone School District until her retirement in 1997. Marjorie also enjoyed reading and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Wellington.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ed; children, Susan (Dale) Campbell, David (Paula) Bender, Peggy Bender and Gary (Chris) Bender; 9 grandchildren, Dale, Katie, Josh, Kalie, Shane, David, Cory, Toni and Chloe and a great grandson, Joshua. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her brother, Jack.
Visitation will be Monday, August 1, from 5-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dale Hulesman officiating. Burial will follow at Penfield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church, 231 E. Hamilton St., Wellington, OH 44090.
