Mark L. Manning, age 82, of Wellington, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Allen Medical Center, Oberlin after a short illness. He was born December 21, 1924 in Pittsfield, Ohio, son of the late Charles and Lelia (Farmer) Manning. He had lived in Brighton Township for 60 years. Mr. Manning was a 1942 graduate of Wellington High School. He had served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. In Europe during World War II. He had been a postal carrier in Wellington for 19 years. Mr. Manning was a member of the Brighton United Methodist Church and was the annual speaker for the Brighton Memorial Day Services. Mr. Manning loved to bowl.
He is survived by his foster children, Perry Willbond of Germany, Debora Willbond and Laura Willbond both of Wellington. Mr. Manning and his wife Doris helped to raise over 60 foster children and neighbors; 2 sisters, Ruth Gasper of Vermilion and Marjorie Hunt of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Manning on March 18, 2007 and 2 brothers, Ray Allen Pilvant and Harvey Pilvant.
Friends may call from 6 - 9 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Norton - Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Funeral and Memorial services for Mr. & Mrs. Manning will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Brighton United Methodist Church, 51011 St.Rt. 18, Wellington with Pastor Alice Elmquist officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Brighton Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be given to the donors favorite charity.
